Extending Wildlife Pond

Hi All,

We dug a pond just over a year ago, and we want to double it in size. What is the best way of going about it?

Is there a pond liner in the pond?

Yes, the only thing we can think is to dig a completley new pond, and transfer the water which is in the current pond once the new pond is built. Someone previously suggested bonding two pieces of liner together but unsure how successful that would be and would also loose some water, which I dont want to happen as I have lots of Damselfly Larvae and May Fly Larvae! x

I would build a new pond if you can. The problem with merging liner is it often leaks. I would do it when it warms up a bit though. Maybe early spring before anything starts breeding. Ideally autumn would be best.
