Where do you buy your seeds?

Do you have a good recommendation for where to buy seeds?

I'm particularly interested in bedding plants and the like.

The main seed suppliers' ranges are available at most garden centres/DIY stores and even supermarkets, so the few (very few these days) non natives that I want to grow from seed I just pick up from wherever is most convenient. Price is pretty standard.

I'd say the first of these is especially good value, but that's on the basis of one order, so as ever ' buyer beware'.

I have tried mailorder generalist seed catalogues in the past with very poor results - low quality/small quantity seeds, wrong items etc.

I try to buy plugs if I can (expensive but sure) Seeds I have always found

I have always found Chiltern Seeds a reliable source. The catalogue is informative and amusing - and the variety on offer is huge. They send your order promptly, and each packet has sowing instructions if they need any unusual treatment. It's not a glossy catalogue - there's no pics, so you have to know something about the plants you chose, but I recommend them.

The charity Flora Locale have a website with a suppliers list on it of all nurseries supplying native seed. Always worth a look
