| | Which plant in your garden attracted the most bees today? Hi folks,
If you want to join in and you have a garden, please take a moment to look around it and write down the plant that had the most bees feeding from it today.
Bumblebees, humblebees, honey bees, any bees...........
Having a newly acquired obsession for bees I am curious to discover more about their preferences.
If you don't have a garden but want to join in the fun ( ) "your garden" can be a park, window box or a local patch of waste land.
Thanks for taking part!
Bev

After planting lots of wildflowers and bee friendly plants (nothing flowering yet in sunny Yorkshire) I hope to bee able to add plenty of contributions |

| | | Re: Which plant in your garden attracted the most bees today? Likewise the weather was very poor here today but I saw a few bees from the window, mainly feeding on jasmin, alliums, ceanothus and perennial wallflower "bowles mauve".
Snapdragons are very good for big bumbles because they need quite a lot of strength to force the "jaws" of the dragon open to get to the pollen. |

| | | Re: Which plant in your garden attracted the most bees today? The last few days I've seen large numbers of bees at the flowers of Nectaroscordum siculum (an Allium relative)- mainly Bombus pratorum, but also B. hypnorum + a cuckoo bee which I think is B. vestalis. |

| | | Re: Which plant in your garden attracted the most bees today? This weekend it's been the French Lavender that is beating the others hands down (others good ones are the Bowles Mauve and the raspberries).
(And I've been having a go at ID with some "cards" from the internet:
Early Bumblebee
Common Carder Bee
Tree Bumblebee
Forest Cuckoo Bumblebee (this one had to spend a bit longer in my glass jar under scrutiny, so did see the red hairs and lack of pollen baskets)
Some sort of other bee yet to be ID'd, bit like a Honey Bee).
