Hi Just an observation, but i have 12 feeders in my garden and when the freeze came i constantly checked water daily changing but noticed the lack of bird life from early months.
I then saw that all though peopel were erged to put feeders out and water, i did a survey round my neighbourhood and out of the 12 gardens i noticed that people put feed and water out, and 9 of the feeding stations still have the same feed which seemed to show signs of mould ect, and the water trays empty.
Though its a good thing to encourage new bird feeders from new people, it to me does not seem to benifit the birds if people are just going with the motion,
(i feed birds) I think there should be more education on once you start a feeding station the after care should be a priority.
as i said just a observation, but wondered if any othe birders have noticed this.
BTW i overlook the 12 gardens so all done from my back yard,
cheers
steev
