| | | Transplanted Teasle. I've just transplanted a fairly biggish teasle into the flowerbed at home, should get Sun for most of the day. Got it from a field, with the farmer's permission. It looks as though it is just about settling down to sleep for the winter. I hope it takes and likes its new site and is covered in butterflies next year.
Any thoughts about Burdock as to the insect attraction stakes? Cheers, Tony. |

| | | Re: Transplanted Teasle. Burdock:I would have thought you would get leaf miners on the leaves, hoverflies on the flowers and birds eating the seeds if you leave the heads on so not bad going.
Teasels are great. |

| | | Re: Transplanted Teasle. Not sure what you mean when you say 'a fairly biggish teasel'. If you transplanted a big rosette of leaves, then that should be fine. If it was a plant that had flowered this year, then it will not regrow next year, as they are biennials (but it may shed its seeds if you left the flower heads on).
Burdock are excellent as a source of nectar for hoverflies and bumblebees and butterflies, and as a source of seeds for finches etc.
