| | | Apple Chutney Spent most of today cooking up a large batch of apple chutney, good job the OH is at work as the house stinks of vinegar!
First time I've tried this with the windfalls from the garden, will maybe have a go with the bumper crop of tomatoes next |

Anyone have recipes without vinegar or is there something I can substitute?

| | | Re: Apple Chutney There are recipes on the Net for fresh indian style chutney which use lemon juice not vinegar (as that is used for preserving a batch). They add things like coriander, mint and dried fuit. You may be able to freeze quantites of the apples then defrost to make your 'chutney of the day' dish |

| | | Re: Apple Chutney Re vinegar: is it malt vinegar you are allergic to? or could you use white wine vinegar instead? My coeliac friend uses it in cooking etc. Or there is cider vinegar! |

| | | Re: Apple Chutney Hi Hedera, seems that most vinegar is a problem.. and given the severity of the reaction (greying of vision, nausea, difficulty breathing) I dont want to try anything else.
I will just cut and freeze and make endless yummy crumbles hehe
