| | | Re: do anyone keep slow worms as a pet Welcome to WAB Josephine As others have said above, I'd release the Slow worm into an area that is known to be a good habitat for these reptiles. Your local wildlife officer may be able to advise you on this? As Kayleigh says though, maybe now is not a good time. As Marvin pointed out, the builders/council should have removed the Slowworms and any other protected species before any building work or major alterations were carried out to the area.
Also, and I'm no expert on Slow Worms, I thought it wasn't a good idea to handle them too much. Not sure if that's for their sake or ours? Do Slow Worms really eat peanuts? Wizzo |

| | | Re: do anyone keep slow worms as a pet Never kept them as Pets but as a youngster would raid the Compost heap, find one, scare a few people then put it back in the compost heap.
What kids did in the 60s is rather inappropriate today, but we still did it, and some of us forget this.

Wizzo | Re handling from Animartco. No one has yet mentioned the fact that slow worms shed their tails like other lizards. When handling one needs to be careful never to hold it by the tail. They regrow of course but this takes up a lot of energy and the new tail is never as good as the shed one. |

| | | Re: do anyone keep slow worms as a pet I was given 2 slow worms. They do not get stressed when handled properly. The bigger one in particular loves being handled. When I open the tank to change their water etc she raises her front half up towards me. I think they like my warm hands. If she's a bit cold she'll curl up in my hands for a couple of minutes. Then she'll have a bit of an exploration round about, before settling down for a snooze in my hands or tucked inside my elbow etc. |

| | | Re: do anyone keep slow worms as a pet we rescued a slow worm today, our neighbour was cutting her grass and found it we have it in a faun at the moment and have put some composte, water and food in there for it, just wondered if it needs a heat mat like a snake? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
