| | | Peat Free I`m not sure if I`ve been duped or not.
In my search for peat free compost, (it`s not easy to find a viable peat free product around here), I came across Westlands " Peat Free Multi- Purpose". Which is described as a mix of 50% peat free compost and 50% West+.
West+ is described as " a sustainable peat replacement ingredient".
Its got FSC accreditation (apparently) but what is a sustainable peat replacement ingredient. I`m thinking that; if you cannot describe it as peat free, then it must have peat in it?
A very confused, (trying to be organic), gardener |

| | | Re: Peat Free Just a word if peat is believed to be an absolute necessity for something - if you look in the Organic Gardening Catalogue there is a product that is peat but it is not extracted peat but peat collected out of natural ran off into streams etc - therefore it is, apparently, sustainable peat.

| | | Re: Peat Free There was a gardeners world special on this the other week.
I never realised how misleading branding and packaging can actually be.
From now on, I'm making all of my own compost and feed.
