| | | Time to cut the Buddleia Its time to start thinking of cutting back the Buddleia if you have more than one plant cut back at different times to spread the flowering out a bit more.then as one starts to die out the next will still be in good shape.

| | | Re: Time to cut the Buddleia Thanks for this info Barquar, I've just cut down my Gran's to tidy the garden, but wasn't sure if it was the right time. |

| | | Re: Time to cut the Buddleia I am going to stagger the pruning of mine too so that I can a succession of flowers. A couple I am not going to prune at all.
It would be interesting to compare pruning/flowering times. |

| | | Re: Time to cut the Buddleia Remember to shred the cuttings (or otherwise make them compostable), not burn them - and if you want more shrubs then stick a few cuttings into the ground or pots!
Another thing (not just Buddleja) - leave a few small twigs around the garden - I saw a blackhen collecting nesting material this afternoon. |

| | | Re: Time to cut the Buddleia I always use the long straight cuttings of my Buddleias, which can be upto a couple of meters long, cut all the side branches off and use these long bits as pea sticks for staking later in the season. They look better than canes and are free .
I also used lots of short straight pieces last year for edging a little bed which the soil kept spilling on to the path!

| | | Re: Time to cut the Buddleia I only have one buddleia and cut it late (first week in April), so it flowers later and catches the main butterly period.
