| | | Re: Tree planting guide Now is good, on a frost-free day. The bare-rooted plants are starting to become available and should be fresh. Same for repotting. The plants should be dormant now.

| | | Re: Tree planting guide It was a frost-free day yesterday so I've planted my Hawthorn. They have to survive clay soil, tree roots and other nasties. But they looked healthy at least.
I chose bare-rooted because they are very cheap, easier to transport and I haven't had a problem with bare-rooted plants in the past. They also slotted in better between other roots. Gardening advice is often to "grow them hard" - and boy have they got it hard I have a feeling they will be just fine though

I'm not much of a gardener and want to plant some native trees this Christmas. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
