| | Wildlife garden project under way Well ive been out in the garden today to have a look around and get some ideas and put a plan together, the feeders have been in for a few months now and whilst in the garden today for about half an hour had visits from the following Blue tits, great tits, starlings, robins, blackbirds and i think a coal tit and best of all to my delight at least 6 sparrows so things are looking good.
Ive attached a pic of my tip of a garden and will update as work progresses.

I see there are conifers around the garden so keep your eyes open for goldcrests too.
Also you have buddleia I think at the back right hand side. Good nectar for butterflies. |

| | | Re: Wildlife garden project under way Looks good to me I can see a pond and is that a twisted hazel in the far corner? Also I spot a football and sometimes the garden has to be given up to the children. Your obviously doing something right as your visitors list shows

| | | Re: Wildlife garden project under way Before you put your fence in it is worth thinking about what kind of wildlife is in your area and what you want to attract to your garden.
I think you are in West Sussex? That may mean that you are in a brown hairstreak area like I am. If you are then it would be a great thing if you could put some blackthorn in your hedge. |

The tip | Looking at the garden it is in heavy shade have you plotted the sun around the garden? it will help in planting and of course butterflies like bright sun to dappled shade.
I have a raised bed angled towards the sun the stones that support the back of the bed act like a storage heater and is well drained which brings in further possibilities, on a sunny day it seems to be around a degree warmer into the evening

| | | Re: Wildlife garden project under way Susie there will be Blackthorn in the hedge along with Berberis,Cotoneaster
Nightshade the garden faces SE and is in full most of the day apart from the back RH side my main Bee & butterfly border is going to be on the Left so will be nice and warm up until about 7.00pm in the summer.
