Watering spring bulbs

I am just about to plant some Allium Christophii and tulip bulbs.
My question is should I water them? It's been very frosty for the last few nights when I have gone to feed the birds in the morning it's been 0 to +1deg, the forecast for the next few is more frost. I don't want to damage the bulbs by them freezing over night in wet soil.
Is it pointless planting them if I don't water?

If they are outside they shouldn't need any watering.

Shirley just plant them out at the required depths and they will be alright nature will take care of the watering

I have lots of bulbs in planters/pots and hanging baskets and never water them this time of year...
They never suffer any ill affects.

Yep, once stuck in the ground they should be capable of taking care of themselves. They are quite able to cope with being frozen. I hope you get a lovely display next year.

Hi Shirley yes just plant the bulbs as BIG BILL tells you and they'll be fine . or just ask a neighbour they know all about bulbs in Holland

All my worry about the bulbs being frozen in ice overnight was unfounded, no frost and plenty of rain - so much for forecasts Not watering was the right thing to do.
The ones I planted ealier in October I have just left to their own devices - it was just the fact these were freshly planted with the risk of freezing.
