Plans for next year?

The spring bulbs are coming up in my garden, hopefully they will provide some early nectar.

I've been pruning back the grapevine today so there should be some lovely fat grapes for the birds (and us!) come the autumn.

I'm going to build another pond but got to find a way to keep the dog out of it first..

If you are going to prune it then you need to do it before the sap starts rising.

Thanks Susie, its a bit cold out there at the moment I take it the sap rises in spring..

Spring pruning would be most advantageous, done in the morning

The sap starts rising in spring and so you need to prune while the wood is dormant, ie, before spring. As spring seems to get earlier every year I would suggest doing your pruning before February (but then again it is probably warmer here than where you are).

Its pretty sheltered where it is so will prob leave it till a mild day before feb..
