Sorry I've never been, would like to go though but I think it's quite pricey isn't it?
Just had a look and it's £13 for an adult so not too bad I suppose especially as I'm sure you could easily spend the whole day there.
Here's some events that they are having. Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew: Current events |

| | | Re: kew gardens Kew Gardens is great. I would love to go back as I haven't been for a few years. There should still be plenty to see at this time of year.
If you are driving and plan to park in the car park then take plenty of change; the car parking charges were astronomical! |

| | | Re: kew gardens We go to Kew a couple of times a year.
This time of year is probably not the best time to visit - too late for summer flowers, but too early for autumn colours.
We like to go in the winter - January of February. There's not a lot of people around, the glasshouse are a welcome break from the cold, and best of all the birds are hungry and will feed out of your hand, particularly in the Rhododendron Dell.
A 'must' at Kew is the Marianne North Gallery! If you're not familiar with Marianne North, have a Google - there's lots out there.
Kew _is_ expensive and the Brentford Gate car park adds (IIRC) another £5 on the cost.
A good alternative is the Kew 'satellite' Wakehurst place, near(ish) Gatwick. Wakehurst is more landscaped than Kew and less of a 'museum of plants' than Kew. The house and pond is very photogenic! It also has the major advantage that parking is free, and if you're a member of the National Trust, entrance is also free (remember to take your membership card!).

henrya | I just about remember that too + it was an old pre-decimal penny!
Have a season ticket now but haven't found time to visit since May.
Away from formal areas a good variety of wildlife. A lot of evidence of Badgers though not likely to see during the day + a roost of Brown Long-eared Bats.
Good for woodland birds with Tawny Owl, almost guarenteed Great-spotted + Green Woodpeckers, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Stock Dove, Goldcrest + Coal Tits. Ring-necked Parakeets common.
Sparrowhawk + Kestrel regular with regular Hobby sightings though these will soon be gone. As winter approaches more wildfowl + worth checking the river with Great-crested Grebes, Herons, Teal, Gadwall + various gulls. Egyptian Geese resident in the grounds. From late October flocks of Redwing + often Siskin in larches or alders.
Should still be variety of butterflies such as Speckled Wood, Holly Blue, various vanessids as well as dragonflies such as Migrant Hawker + Common Darter.
Always a lot to see at Kew! |
