No real special tricks or nothing I think it's just the strain of the seed (Russian Giant). Sow in pots and when they get to a good size dig a hole and bung them in, ideally next to something that you can strap/tye them to.

I'm thinking that I must have had the wrong sunflower seeds in the past then.

The only seeds I've managed to find in a huge garden centre plus b and q were american giant or giant yellow  Just as well really as I've been looking for german giant all day anyway not russian  . I've bought the american which claim to grow 5 ft, will these be okay for my quest ? If not, will pm you stewy
