| | Sarracenia How many Wildlife Gardeners would consider Sarracenia's a worthy plant for the garden?

| | | Re: Sarracenia Would have thought so! Guess you could even create the right habitat id you didn't have a peat bog to hand.....bog garden with acid soil. I tried sundews ages ago and venus fly traps (later indoors) without much success though. They're interesting... are you going to try some then? |

| | | Re: Sarracenia They are certainly fascinating plants +at least 2 species have naturalised in a few places- S. flava + S. purpurea.
When I was a youngster I had a Sarracenia in a pot on my parent's coal bunker + remember seeing wasps + even ladybirds disappear down the urns! Perhaps not what you want, but I wouldn't have thought they would impact on insect populations too much. |

| | | Re: Sarracenia Thanks for the advice all! I am still contemplating whether I should or not? But then as they say nothing ventured nothing gained.

| | | Re: Sarracenia I'd give it a go! Came across a website about carnivorous plants in general; really good. I'll go back and have a look for it after work. |
