| | | Re: Wildlife Hedges and Trees (desperately needed) Rip up gardens and replace with tarmac, remove hedges and replace with fences, flooding gets worse as the river catchment gets "flashier". Oh, it has done. |

We have to put in a new security fence following a burglary, but clearing the area to do that will give us the opportunity to surround the fence with a new wildlife hedge, which is the new year project if the weather holds. Plenty of spiky things like hawthorn and blackthorn will add to the security, as well as the berry availability |

| | | Re: Wildlife Hedges and Trees (desperately needed) I have just been planting 100m of native hedgerow to section an area off for ground nesting birds. The local dogs disturb them. The hedge is mainly hawthorn and some hazel willow and dogwood. |

| | | Re: Wildlife Hedges and Trees (desperately needed) Not in too much shade but they're fairly happy go lucky trees if it's a standard acorn. Some species are more fussy, i.e the red oak prefers more acid soil. Just protect it while it's still young | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
