| | too fat for my bird feeder.
last night i noticed that my big bird feeder down the garden was empty, when i got up this morning it was pouring so i thought you will just have to wait a while, about an hour later something caught my eye outside the patio doors, there on my metal bird feeding station were three fat wood pigeons, trying to get to grips with the dishes that are ment for smaller birds, the pole was swaying and slippery but they managed in the end,by the time i got my camra out one had flown off,the quality of the picture is very poor as it was raining hard and i took it through glass and croped it a lot, after they had flown off i went out and in the pouring rain filled their seen pot up,hows that for dedication. |

| | | Re: too fat for my bird feeder. Hi naturelover,
It's smee again, much as I like birds, the doves devour our feeders, and the smaller birds don't stand a chance, so I shoo the doves off, they are really bullies, still come back though, although we tried the feeder inside a cage the only visitors we had to that was a wren once, and at night, mice.
Not sure what to try next.
Max.

| | | Re: too fat for my bird feeder. I used to have the same problem with the Doves and pidgeons and overcame it by scattering some seed on the lawn and it worked they doves and pidgeons now take the seed from the lawn and leave the feerders alone also the ground feeders like blackbird and robin take their share as well

| | | Re: too fat for my bird feeder. Thats a bit spooky naturelover. Almost the same veiw from my patio windows. The patio doors look the same and the feeder is exactly the same. The only difference are the curtains.
And I get the Pigeons on it as well.
Paul

You'll have to have a word with pops, his photo of the sparrowhawk is something else, I know you've looked at it, but reading his thread you need a camera and tripod set up on the kitchen windowledge, I don't think my wife would be too keen .
Max.
Especially as my quality of photos are similar to yours.

| | | Re: too fat for my bird feeder. I've seen that pecking order thing in action. Woodpigons pecking Blackbirds, Blackbirds pecking bluetits, bluetits pecking worms and so on. It's funny, they always seem to go for each others eyes. |

| | | Re: too fat for my bird feeder. My partner cant stand wood pigeons, whenever we put out food for the birds down they come, several at once and they chase all the other birds off. It's getting so bad as they now roost in the trees at the bottom of the garden. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
