| | | Re: December Garden Flowers My forsythia and winter jasmine started to flower early, a few weeks ago, though on the forsythia it's only a couple of flowers. Salvia leucantha has been in flower for weeks - that's a late-flowering plant anyway so that's quite normal. My calendula and red valerian both have a couple of flowers still hanging on. I went for a walk today in a nearby garden and noticed what was probably a couple of flowering cherries blooming slightly. And in the local park last week I noticed Lonicera fragrantissima has started blooming - that's early, isn't it? |

| | | Re: December Garden Flowers What's going on? This photo was taken in my garden today - 10th December - daffodils and autumn leaves! We still have not swept up all the autumn leaves yet.

| | | Re: December Garden Flowers Today I noticed an antirrhinum left over from summer has put out a single new flower. We've just started having some frost about the last week or so. |

| | | Re: December Garden Flowers I have a chaenomeles 'japonica', not sure of the actual cultivar; it's not unusual for a few flowers to show in December in advance of the main February/March flush. What I have never seen before is fruit being set in December.

| | | Re: December Garden Flowers Hello Mrs Fish,
I am in Southampton so perhaps I am lucky. We have had several hard frosts over the last few days so I don't know how long things are going to stay the same, its quite interesting really. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
