| | | Re: my new bird feeding station Hi Lulubella
There were floorboards missing under the kitchen sink and bath (we had a downstairs bathroom) We did manage to get a builder to get down under the floor void and he blocked up some holes from outside. After getting this work done we sold up and scarpered. Re the electro magnetic thing - we did have a mouse in the new house but after buying one haven't seen it since. I don't know how reliable they are but it reassures my wife. You've got me thinking about the garage now as we have quite a big gap under the door, I think maybe one of those brush things would be a good idea just in case |

Hi there
We could have had a problem with the electronic gadgets because you are not supposed to put anything in front of them, and our garage is a bit like Steptoe's Yard - amongst other things, we did have a mattress (which they did not touch) and some other furniture, so the rays might not have been able to do their job properly. On the rat front, I was standing in front of the kitchen window this lunch time and saw a ig brown object in the trees at the bottom of the garden (about 75/80' away) - thinking it might be a sparrowhawk looking for its dinner, I got the bins out - I was shocked, horrified, sickened etc to see that it was two big brown rats climbing amongst the branches - probably looking for nests/eggs/fledglings - I went round to the people whose garden the trees are in, and she said that they had the same problem as us. The difference is that their dog, which is a cairn terrier waits for the rats and kills them as soon as they put their heads out of their holes - my dogs just bark at them and chase them away. We have a hotel near us and, of course, they throw waste food out, so there are plenty around there - also, the field at the side of the house is flooded at the moment, so they will have been driven out of their
homes. Which reminds me, it is dark now, so I had better go and bring any left over bird stuff in. I should try the draught excluder brush - it worked for us - we still keep mouse poison in the garage, changing it regularly to keep it fresh, but it has not been taken for months now.
