| | Re: How to...Keep Cats out of the Garden The thing is ..most of us on here enjoy watching the wild birds and animals come into our gardens , and be thrilled to see a wildcat or a buzzard swoop in and catch its prey . I had a cat some years ago and after a life time of seeing it kill to play with baby birds ,I decided when it came to the end of it's life , that I would not get another one . Enjoying wildlife , feeding the birds and catching foxes , deer , owls , frogs etc on camera is a far more wonderful thing . |

Cats and wildlife don't mix. If you want to keep a cat you have to get used to the fact that they kill birds and small mammals.
This site gets lots of 'hand wringing' posts from cat owners claiming that they love wildlife, and how it upsets them when their pet kills wildlife. They can't get it into their heads that it's one thing or the other - cats _or_ wildlife, and I think they only post to salve their concience and be reassured by other cat owners that it's a shame, but there is nothing they can do about it.
I don't have so much an issue with cats killing wildlife, as the fact that cat owners keep sniveling about it, rather than accept the fact and shut-up, or not keep a cat!
