Has Any One Tried To Grow Those Lovely Gerbera That You Get In The Florist, I Would Love To Grow My Own I Have Found A Source For Seeds For Next Year But Not Much Info On The Right Way To Go About It,I Mean Do They Need Heat Or Will Just A Normal Cold Greenhouse Do In The Summer Any Ideas |

| | | Re: gerbera Gerbara seeds can be obtained from any of the main seed suppliers, although I'm not sure how well they would grow if we have another summer like the last. I should imagine that you should start the seeds off in a propagator with a bit of heat. They like well drained soil, so pot the seedlings into a compost with plenty of sand added. When large enough they can be planted out into the garden, but have a tendancy to greenfly and mildew. They are tender so shoud be overwintered in a frost free greenhouse or indoors.
I'm not sure how successful you will be as I don't think we have the right light levels in the UK for growing such exotic flowers. Look forward to hearing how you go on |

thanks for your reply i will certainly have a go next spring and see if i can grow the gerbera i think it will be trial and error but it will be a challenge
