| | | Help from gardening experts Hi All,
Late last Autumn I bought a variety of allium bulbs for our garden . Since then we've sold our house and will be moving on 13th April. The bulbs are just poking out of the ground now and i'd like to know if they'll do ok if I dig them up and put them into pots .
Thanks in advance

| | | Re: Help from gardening experts Should be all right, Alan. It might check them a bit, but they won't have a huge established root system to damage. One thing's for sure - if you leave them, you will lose them!

Alan | I'd just take them and chance it! You're not loosing anything by doing this.

| | | Re: Help from gardening experts Hi Alan, my wife who is an RHS qualified gardener says if you dig them up and put them in pots they should come to no harm. If you use a good compost in the pots you could even leave them in the pots until after they have flowered then transfer them to the garden. Alternatively plant them in your new garden as soon as possible after moving. It will check them back a little and they may not flower as profusely as normal but should survive ok.

| | | Re: Help from gardening experts Hi Ollie, and thanks to you and your wife , much appreciated.
I'm pleased to hear they'll do ok , i've heard that they attract a variety of insect life like bees and butterflys.
Thanks again,
Alan | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
