Ive never had an allotment but can remember my grandfather taking me down there and spending many hrs digging about..it seem to be a place where the menfolk caught up with all there gossip..if you left your spade out etc it was still out when you came back ..not so much these day i would think...the ones round here the sheds are well locked up ..We would also bring back the fresh veg in the basket on the front of my bike..which always made me feel so proud that we had grown it ourselves..

Our local allotments was going to be built on. It was hardly being used, and they were offering compensation of a £1000 pounds to those that had kept plots. Word got around about this, within a fortnight all the plots were full, all turned over and nice. Shortly after, the planning got refused, because it bordered a nature resevere. The reserve had its status improved, and they didn't want to much interference near site |

| | | Re: Anyone got an allotment? I had an allotment, two at one stage, up until this year. I gave it up in September because I wasn't able to spend the time there that I should. But it was great fun, the kids loved it too. We'll definitely be signing up for one again in a few years, other commitments at the moment just mean not enough time. Have fun with your lottie, I'm sure you'll find it very rewarding | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
