| | | Peas Dear Folks,
Not really a wildlife gardening question, but does anyone know when peas should be harvested? I selected a juicy fat pod the other day, but upon opening, the peas were disappointingly small.

Regards, Chris | As Nightshade says - it depends on the variety, and of course when you planted them. Another factor is the weather; failure to mature or undeveloped 'fruit' at maturity is usually a result of drought and I would expect given the way this season has gone that peas should crop quite well this year. The fairly cool weather may have slowed develoment down so I would guess that if the pods are a good size then it's just a matter of watching and waiting - unless you've planted mange tout
