| | | Re: anybody got any tomato plant tips Get a bag of compost, and lay it down where you want to put the plants. Cut three crosses in it, and open the flaps up, then plant the tomatoes in the holes. Water well, it usually works! Sarah PS: Not explained brilliantly so I'll get a pic!!! :P

| | | Re: anybody got any tomato plant tips Hi. Try not to handle the greenery of the plants too much. Feed them every other watering from the time the flowers appear and don't overwater. If the leaves start to wilt, you're not watering enough but they're easy to rescue. They love greenhouses but this year I'm trying some outdoors for a change and they are surviving my hilltop wind-swept garden! |

REGULAR watering is a must. If you miss a few waterings do not overwater to compensate. This can cause splitting. As has been said feed every other watering, 'little and often' better than 'famine and feast'!
Good luck!

| | | Re: anybody got any tomato plant tips We plant ours out in pots now(free from ASDA flower stall)
but always use chicken manure as it gives most varities a
nice sharp flavour
A basic trial of stable/chicken manure mixed off with a John Innes
versus Grow Bags, the Manure won for moisture retention and growth

| | | Re: anybody got any tomato plant tips I use pots, but both pots and bags work perfectly well as long as you keep the plants reasonably moist and feed them regularly. If you carry on with your plants as they are and treat the ones in the pot and the ones in the bag exactly the same you should be able to tell us by the end of the season which was best | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
