Can anybody advise me on the best places to put boxes for Mason bees?

I put one on a tree in a fairly sunny spot. Result - nothing! I put another on top of the car port in full sun. Result - busy, busy!!
I used the cylinder types with cardboard tubes. The ends were closed all winter and now they are open with lots of the red mason bees doing their thing. So close to the house too and I get a ringside seat  |

I bought a second bee box today because the first one is full up. It's been non-stop. It is tiring just watching them. |

Looks like I wasn't quick enough getting the second bee box. In the mean time all the screw holes on the outside garden hose reel have been used and filled in with mud. Ingenious little creatures. | | |
