| | | Land Art - Andy Goldsworthy Found a book from 20 years ago lurking at the back of my shelves today by Andy Goldsworthy, reminding me how much I like some of his art. I particularly like his images of gradations of colour in leaves, pebbles, rotton wood etc, his ice and snow sculptures (including a wonderful series of photos of a snow sculpture on Blencathra), and his dry stone wall work (including the Cumbrian sheepfolds). I found this image on the web.
Anyone else a fan? |

| | | Re: Land Art - Andy Goldsworthy Hi Johnny
The name of Andy Goldsworthy caught my attention in your thread. I've come across several of his works during my travels over the years and I pass one of his sheepfolds fairly regularly at Warcop.
I recall that at the time he was constructing them there were a few detractors but the permanent works are well built and make a pleasing sight. |

| | | Re: Land Art - Andy Goldsworthy There was an exhibition of his work near where I live a couple of years ago. I really like it - it looks so natural - and it will last a lot longr than an unmade bed

| | | Re: Land Art - Andy Goldsworthy Johnny, I'd never heard of him until I read your post.
Having just done a bit of research, I've been obliged
to order one of his books.
Wonderful stuff !!!
Thank you for the tip-off.

| | | Re: Land Art - Andy Goldsworthy I love Andy Goldsworthy's work - first came across some of it on the Grizedale Forest sculpture trail in the Lake District (well worth a visit if you haven't been) during the 1980s and have been a big fan ever since

| | | Re: Land Art - Andy Goldsworthy I'm so glad you all like it too. I think there is some artistic genius in his eye for colour and form in nature and in landscape setting. There is something also in the ephemeral nature of some of the works.
I've only managed a poor quality scan of one of the Blencathra snow sculpture images, my book is mostly too large for the scanner. I think it shows something of the drama of the full set. |
