Corfe Castle in moonlight...

A scratch board drawing of Corfe Castle... tried to give the impression of a moonlit night... a few mistakes along the way, as I got to wards the front the style became more relaxed. Still on a learning curve with this art.

Have to do one of 'The Shoe' it brings back memories of Shoebury seeing the name place.

Martin, I have visited the site many times and your scratch board drawing has rekindled many a fond memory......well done.

Lovely drawing. Have done something similar years ago with a plate held over a candle until charred and blackened. You then scratch in your impression and spray varnish gently to fix. Black and white is a hard medium to work in, yours is very impressive.

Excellent drawing. Did you do it on location or from a photograph?

Nice drawing Martin, just enlarged it to view it, you can really see every scratch, don't think I've have the patience, that's what makes it even more impressive.
It did spark my memory to a photograph I took back in the early 2000s, when living down that way, near enough the same view point.

Well thanks for that Debs, and glad it works well for you... the sad part of it all is that you (me ) can not quite get the detail over by scanning... or I an just no good at it...But thanks for the comments.

Now are we talking of the River/stream called the Shoe that flows to the Ness or are we talking of the other Watery Hole.. if it is the Shoe Hotel...saddly it is in a sad state of repair, the life drained from it when the Garrison shut down, a few fires to try and get rid of it now what is left of it will be turned into flats or a Formica pub....but do have photos of it with the old boat yard tween pub and Garrison gates.... that was before Jenkins had his petrol station there.
Thanks for the memories...of a great old building..... I think Buffalos met in there too...

A long old process Brenda, but very engrossing indeed. Like doing etching... the pleasure is in the work and the prep of the surface to work in... for me this is the cheapest way to get near to etching as possible.
