| | | Cumbrian carved walking sticks Here in Cumbria we have a good number of local shows to entertain us. Some are fairly small village jobs right up to county show level.
I'm always drawn to the stick making classes and this year saw a couple that I thought were quite good.
This foxy faced Otter looks happy
whilst this family is enjoying themselves, they've even caught a fish to eat!
There's a cub in the pool and an adult popping out of the horn handle.
I can't imagine that this scene was carved out of one piece of horn but I've never seen anything like it before.
Is carved stick making and showing a Cumbrian hobby or does this happen in other parts of the country? |

| | | Re: Cumbrian carved walking sticks I had a quick look thru some sites, and although there are some lovely ones these are really beautiful and works of art. It's as though the creatures have materialised out of the horn.
