Thanks again and appreciate your comments. Take care.

I'm not sure its the bridge - I think its the difficulty of making the bullrushes stand out in the foreground - and cos I haven't a clue what I'm talking about - I have no idea how I would deal with it!! But I can see the pic in three parts, the bullrushes and grasses, then a step backwards the first tree and the bridge, and lastly the second feature tree and lastly (and thats four levels) the trees in the distance ......... Mmmmm ....... thinking about it is making me want to have a go - I know - I know - I keep threatening to get my gear out then life keeps overtaking me - but the day when I may be able to do some artwork is approaching slowly - but it is coming Anyway Martin you keep doing your splendid pics
Pauline
PS Edit - just having had yet another look at it - I like it! - but I realise my mind thinks its a bit spooky - and then Billy Goat Gruff comes to mind and trolls crossing bridges and cos its 'lost' if you cross over it then you will enter another world where you are lost .......... see what I mean - I like it - it makes stories and pics in my mind - and good art is supposed to do that?!!!!

| | | Re: Lost Bridge...scratch board. I remember you showing me this Martin while it was only party finished on our trip to Ashridge..I did point out to you a few things that i thought didn't look correct..all of these have been pointed out by other members...But I would agree totally with Pauline that a drawing of this scene before hand would have helped with the preparation , especially the perspective, which in this kind of Art work is essential...of course Martin this is just my opinion..
Moving on ..Im looking forward to seeing your next piece of Art work very soon...inspired from one of the photos taken at Ashridge i believe..

Julie | Yes and Yes Julie you did but by that time as you know it was and is too late to do anything about it, apart from take in all that is given to you and learn from experience. But I do agree and said so myself, half the battle is one when you know you have messed up the other half is when you do it again better.
Thanks for your response Julie it is as aways appreciated honest and to the point.... the best way to learn I find
Thanks Julie Jam.

| | | Re: Lost Bridge...scratch board. Well there is one other thing to remember - sometimes its nice to get lost in a peice of work - its 'learning on the job' so to speak - warts and all - its also a release of raw talent and an expression of what goes on 'inside'.... this from one who knows that she spends too long on the pre planning stage and as a result often ends up with work that looks contrived - instead of artwork - a free expression of talent that has been allowed to roam ......... and been enjoyed in the creation.... one of these days soon I will come back to my roots and pick up a pen and and brush........

Pauline | Thanks again Pauline, true so very true. With this picture I had an idea but no real plan and tried to put too much in it as I was making it up as I went along, as you have said earlier a little planning is a good idea. This one I just went ahead and made a few blunders but learnt a few things as I etched away in my own little world. It is fun just to have fun specially when you enjoy doing it
Thanks again Pauline always an interesting point you offer.
