| | | The Lookout Here's one inspired by my favourite Bird Artist of all time .. Archibald Thorburn ..
I've called it "The Lookout" & it's in my usual watercolours on Bockingford paper ..
Bye for now ..

| | | Re: The Lookout Thanks all .. your comments are much appreciated ..
I have sold some Roger (though not that one .. yet) ....
The problem being that as you know, in this part of the world .. jobs are scarce, money is tight & folk have more important things to spend their hard-earned on than paintings .. Last year, we had two very good Art shops locally .. both now closed down due to a drop in business etc ..
You can't actually see it on the scan Kayleigh .. but I highlighted parts of the snow with "pearlescent" paint (so it glistens in the right light) ..
However .. they keep me busy .. so onwards & upwards .. as they say ...
Bye for now ..
Kev ..

| | | Re: The Lookout I often use other media to create the effect I want ..
I've just finished two paintings .. one of a Samurai in robes & its "companion", two Japanese ladies in traditional dress .. in which I used gold & silver Calligraphy inks to achieve the effects of embroidery on the clothing etc ..
Watercolour "purists" would probably be horrified at this and at the fact that I use white paint, instead of using the "negative" space method & allowing the surface of the paper to show through ..
But .. whatever works is good for me ..
Bye for now ..
Kev ..

| | | Re: The Lookout Hi Kev, your pheasants are great , I also used pearlescent paint I found it enhanced the 'wood' of a silver birch tree .
Messing around with various mediums gives so much more scope to creating the effect .
Love to see your Japanese ladies
