Re: Colourful Poppies..

Brings a smile to my face as it reminds me of my friend in Ecuador who had paintings of poppies everywhere Only bar one ( a water colour of my mum's) they were quite brash not soft and gentle like your (or my mum's for that matter...and there's a complement for you).

Re: Colourful Poppies..

Thanx Kayleigh and Mike for your encouraging comments.....the good thing about watercolors there are no hard and fast rules no mistakes to be made...you can develope your own style...thats how i have looked at it throughout the yrs..which is good for me when all i want to do is to bring so much colour and light into each painting..

Re: Colourful Poppies..

I think this is your best yet - very loose and flowing - it feels like you have more improvision than illustration in this one which for me is a good thing. It captures not only poppies but how looking at poppies can make you feel.

if you know what I mean....

Julie,

That's really lovely - just the sort of thing I could hang on my wall.

Wish I could do that!

Re: Colourful Poppies..

Thanx Gill..i never stick to the rules when painting flowers and have found you can get away with using most colours making it more personal...

Thanx Jenny I have around twenty paintings hanging up around the home..changing them every so often . Im still finding some tucked away in folders..Its nice to get them out once in a while its a good way of seeing how your style has developed and improved over the yrs.. I do believe there's always room for improvement..

Re: Colourful Poppies..

Lovely paintings, juliejam. To be able to use watercolours that freely, yet also to be so precise and detailed in your 'pheasant' drawing, I think you're very talented. I'm green with envy!

That's lovely Julie. Do you sell your work ever? I'd be interested in that one.
