Looks like acrylic and i have to say excellent painting. 
For your next project what about a purple emperor. |

Hi this is Mrs Morpheus, thank you for the very kind words of encouragement. Yes it is acrylic paint, I got some cheap ones and a canvas from 'Home and Bargain' - I think it only cost about 3 pound for the lot!! I did it for my sisters birthday and figured if it didn't work out, then I hadn't lost much ( I got her a proper present too just in case!!!). It's based on a photograph I took in the garden, I have planted lots of buddleas to bring in the moths and butterflies. Would love to even get to photograph a purple emperor let alone paint one. Anyone know what to plant to bring them in? Ps: The good thing I found out about acrylics is you can paint over any mistakes!! Once again thank you for being so kind. |

That's an excellent painting, it really captures the spirit and beauty of the Peacock.
You have an obvious talent for painting wildlife, I'm sure we'd all like to see any future paintings that you do. |

the purple emporer apparently feeds on honey dew as secreted by aphids - for methods of attracting them (purple emporers not aphids ) click on the listen again option of this weblink BBC - Radio 4 - The Living World 29/08/2004
also according to BBC Inside Out -
you could also try rotten fruit , urine, horse dung, salmon , and mirrors
