Field Guiding jobs

Hello all!

No doubt like many people with an interest in the natural world, I am very interested in finding out more about how to go about starting a career in guiding (by which I mean the sort done by guides on game reserves in Africa, or such organisations as Aigas in the UK, taking groups of guests out and interpreting the natural environment for them, finding them what they want to see etc).

Much of the work in this kind of (eco-tourism) field seems to be in places with plentiful large (and potentially dangerous) mammals such as Africa and Canada.

I was just wondering whether anyone knows of anywhere in Europe (including but not limited to the UK and Ireland) which specialises in eco-tourism and hires guides? If so, are there any which do their own training, or accept volunteers? (With the exception of Aigas, which is the only place I have managed to find so far...)

I do guided walks for the RSPB it might be worth getting in contact with your local reserve. You will then gain some useful experience for your CV.
