| | | Countryside Jobs Service Just read through this week’s CJS, 6 pages with 21 jobs and we have not even reached the October spending review. It could be the fact that it’s a gloomy day outside my window, but things do not look good in the Environmental/conservation sector for a good few years.

| | | Re: Countryside Jobs Service not good is it, and I'm looking for a job too. Seems they're wanting more and more certificates for less money. I never expected to be paid well doing ranger work but I do expect to earn enough to live on and that's without holidays abroad or any luxery like that |

| | | Re: Countryside Jobs Service I completely agree with you there.
Ive not actually had a job as such so far in my chosen field of study yet. Two years ago i started a NVQ L1 in Land based operations with BTCV, i then went onto NVQ L2 in Environmental Conservation which i also completed. When i first started 2 years ago, the CJS handout i received each week comprised of 8-10 pages of positions paid and volunteer. I finished 2 months ago on the courses and i think the last handout i received to look through was 4 pages with 3 pages of volunteer positions.
It is increasingly difficult to firstly find a job pop up that i am slightly qualified for let alone fight off the large amounts of applicants going for one position. I do hope Environmental issues are high on the new Governments agenda or the next few years could be as miserable as the current weather outside your window!

Fuzzy-Felt Bloke | that'll be the cioalitions spending cts at work - or more accurately the uncertainty about them
nearly all county councils have a recruitment freeze as do NE - once we've actually had the review people will be able to plan more effictively wheras at the moment no one in the public sector or recipient of public sector grants knows how much money they will have in 6 months time.
