Starting a Foudation Degree

I am a mature student 48 and about to start a foundation degree in Ecology and Conservation management. I also have other relevant experience as well in the form of volunteering and practical NPTC qualification.
I was just wondering what people thought of this as a qualification for finding possible employment in the countryside sector? Either survey or practical work.
I know that there are a lot of people out there with higher qualifications but this is always going to be the case. From what I have read that does not always help.

Not sure what you mean when you say people with higher qualifications (MSc!!!), a FdSc is the first and second year of a full degree, you can top up to a full degree by completing the final year if you have the grades and the Uni has a place.
Being a science degree you will only receive bare minim in practical work, therefore you will need to supplement this with voluntary work.
Finally your right about a degree not helping, it’s all about how employable you are and experience counts for a lot, having said that I have seen Muppets in my time with a great deal of high qualifications, but no idea
