| | | Conservation Volunteering Hi,
Am shortly to be made redundant and thought this would be a perfect opportunity to do some conservation volunteering. It's something that I've always wanted to do but have never had the time.
Though it is proving to be a little harder than I expected to find any opportunities in my area (I live just outside of Newport, South Wales).
I have tried:-
1. Gwent Wildlife Trust
2. The Forestry Commission
3. The National Trust
4. RSPB
5. Local Animal Sancturies
6. BCTV
7. Keep Wales Tidy
8. Torfaen Voluntary Alliance
They either don't need anyone or I don't get any reply. Has anyone else has this problem? I thought that maybe it's because of the current jobs market, and everyone is trying to gain new experiences this way.
Any help or advise would be great!
Cheers |

| | | Re: Conservation Volunteering try looking in the countryside jobs service - which advertises volunteer vacancies too
also rspb , national trust and btcv are all looking for volunteers - so its possible you didnt contact the right person so its worth trying them again
look here for links etc http://www.volunteering-wales.net/li...?category=8352

| | | Re: Conservation Volunteering Do the BTCV not have long-term conservation volunteer centres anymore? There used to be one up near Llanberis in N Wales. |

| | | Re: Conservation Volunteering As far as I know the old long term vol centres have gone TS (the Llanberris one) went quite a while ago... I was there in the early 90's and it was a great place to be
As for anything else have you tried just googling it? I don't know your area, sorry. |

| | | Re: Conservation Volunteering Have you tried your local council nature reserves? I am the only Ranger on mine and rely on vols to keep the park going - 110 acres. People often overlook council nature reserves because they expect them to be fully manned.
If anyone is looking for volunteer opportunities in North Lincolnshire............... |
