| | | conservation in cambridge Hi, i was wondering if anyone knew of a conservation group/club i could volunteer to in cambridge. I am wanting to go to uni to do a course in ecology and wildlife conservation and want some experience.
Has anyone got any advice in getting some experience in this field??

| | | Re: conservation in cambridge Hi,
I've been living in Cambridge for the past two years and due to start my masters in October so I've been in a similar position to you. I joined the Cambridgeshire Wildlife Trust Ecology Groups based in Cambourne - they have loads of stuff going on including an ongoing bat project. Plus if you join you can go to the training courses for free, which are very useful. I couldn't really take advantage as much as I'd have liked since I've only just been able to afford a car! I also volunteer at Milton Country Park, they are always looking for help! The Cambridge Natural History Society run lots of talks and surveys, so thats worth a look too. I'm also currently doing some nightjar surveying for a PhD student, that's a good way to get some free training!
Hope this helps!

| | | Re: conservation in cambridge The local Wildlife Trust is the WT for Beds, Cambs, Northants and P'boro. Google them and you will get their website. They may be able to offer you a wide variety of stuff from practical habitat management to surveying to education to planning to office based stuff etc.
The Ecology Groups mentioned are also part of that Trust. |
