| | | Worth it ? I'm not being funny but I wonder if this area is worth the space it takes up - It aint exactly heavily used and there are a couple of acknowledged environmental job sites which have this area pretty much sown up www.environmentjob.co.uk and www.countryside-jobs.com
Perhaps it would be better to have links to these sites from the WAB links/resources area, what do other people think ?

| | | Re: Worth it ? There were quite a few requests for this part of the forum as a place for members to add details about work parties, volunteer positions etc. It turns out that there are far fewer posts than there were requests , but I think it could maybe do with running a while longer to see if it picks up.
The problem with posting jobs in the other parts of the forum is that they disappear within an hour, but at least in here they have a chance of being seen for longer.
Obviously, there are already the dedicated job sites, which we can always link to, but I dont think it will do any harm to have this in here as well. If nothing else, this forum can help out by posting the types of jobs that are not really considered as advertised positions, but just a casual "can someone help us build a hide next Saturday..."

Stu | For that it could be very useful - but maybe we should change the name, I hadnt realised that this kind of thing could be posted here (and I run upwards of 48 working parties per year).
When I get a moment I'll get the ball rolling with my days for the next couple of weeks...
The other thing is that we need to do summat to get more people looking here, what prompted my original post was that i have had a volunteers wanted thing in this forum for ages but had nada in the way of interest.

| | | Re: Worth it ? I often look at this part of the site as i'd love to work in a conservation type job It's just a very difficult thing to get a job in this area as there are very little in the way of jobs and lots of people wanting them |

Chexck out the links in my original post on a regular basis for c/side jobs - these are probbalt the most used by c/side employers.

There will be lots of little clubs and groups in your area, don't bother with the RSPB, they are a notoriously bad employer anyway, look for local bat groups and stuff - go to the Bat Conservation Trust wensite and track down your local club get trained up for a bat licence - there's always work for bat workers! Join the local herpetofauna group again get a great crested newt survey licence - there's always work there too. Plus places like the environment agency have fisheries depts and with your level of knowledge maybe they'd let you shadow another employee for a week or two see if it's the kind of work you'd enjoy - and meet potential employers. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
