| | | Jobs Yesterday I posted a message with links to all the environmental jobs I could find on the internet (there were quite alot). Obviously it was against the rules, because it seems to have been deleted (although a thread with a link to a forestry commission job with just a link hasn't been removed).
So I'll reword my suggestions.
If you are looking for a job in conservation or ecology, search within the sites of wildlife associations. Most of them have a vacancies or jobs section. eg
Froglife
Wildlife Trusts
Local Councils
Arg-UK (amphib & Reptiles)
Herp Con Trust
Forestry Commission
Woodland Trust
British Phenology
Natural England (or Scotland)
Mammals Trust
BTO
RSPB
Water authorities
Bumblebee conservation trust
Also try general internet searches of the following combinations:
ecology + vacancies or jobs or vacancy
ecological
conservation
countryside
local govenment
ecologist
wildlife
ranger
I hope this will help some of you who are stuck find an avenue you may not have though of. |

| | | Re: Jobs May I add perhaps looking at MOD Defence Estates. Some of the sites have some sort of rangerish/ecology type work and because the majority are closed to the public, they can be proper good sites (e.g. Salisbury Plain, Dorset Heaths).
I think this thread would be helpful for newcomers looking to spam potential employers with their CV's etc. so don't see why it would be deleted.

| | | Re: Jobs also missing from the list is National Trust and Countryside Council for Wales, you can however save yourself a lot of time and energy by logging on to countryside jobs service or environmentjob , where 99% of these jobs will be advertised anyway.
environmentjob and cjs daily/monthly are free (to the job seeker - they make their money by charging the employer to place the ad obviously) while cjs weekly has to be subscribed to at i think £1.50 per week. (imo such subscription isnt worth it if money is tight as most employers will go on either the daily list or on environment job as well)

Aye to that CJS is invaluable to anyone looking for jobs in this sector, they also pick up jobs in the media as well. It's also worth getting talking to rangers and wardens stalkers etc they will also know stuff on the grapevine. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
