I've been volunteering with London Wildlife Trust since last year Jan, so I've been involved with many of their projects, although my favourite has to be the London Water Vole Project. I'm mostly involved with my local bat group as a full committee member, which is pretty cool as it means I have some say on they're future plans and growth. |

I'm beginning to wonder if I can be bothered as the impression I get from them is volunteers are just a pain in the @rse. | I have to agree somewhat, I have previously volunteered for RSPCA, well it was a good 6 years ago now and while not everyone is the same the majority of permanent workers there did seem to neglect us volunteers and make us do the jobs they disliked. I enjoyed working with the animals and loved the moment someone bought a hamster in and everyone squealed and couldn't hold it, so I the volunteer handled it for them, ah memories. I have also volunteered for the dogs trust a good 4-5 years ago, which was worse lol The people were not as dedicated and as friendly as I expected, but the same goes for many things I guess, I have heard many bad stories of vet practices too.
I volunteered for the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust three years ago now for over a year and a half but my University studies in Cambridge caused me to leave. But I have now finished my studies and am looking forward to going back and volunteering in the autumn/winter. I have fond memories of coppicing in a dense woodland with googles on while it was snowing plus many many more, I would highly recommend volunteering for the any Wildlife Trust, especially the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust. They have been my most enjoyable volunteering experience to date, I have spoken about my experience with them constantly for the last three years and possibly annoyed/tired many people. lol
I have applied for some other volunteer work with bats and other species but have to wait for feedback now. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
