| | | Wildlife surveys Does anybody reccomend any wildlife surveys that I can get involved in, around the North-east area, other than the BTO bird atlas survey and the common plant survey? Any advice is much appreciated.
Cheers, Mark. |

Cheers, Mark. | Depends where you are in the NE (of England?). There's a Natural History Society of Northumbria who ought to have knowledge of surveys - if you're further south then there's the Yorkshire Naturalist's Union.
There are a fair number of national surveys of which I recommend ( ) the Ladybird Survey - UK Ladybird Survey - homepage but there are others - worth looking on the Buglife site for bumble bee survey &c .... The Garden Bird Survey of the BTO is very useful - but costs!
Good luck and have fun. |

I don't know if you're interested in dragonflies, but there's also a survey being carried out on the Broad-Bodied Chaser (Libellula Depressa). You can find the details from the British Dragonfly Society website or via the following link. http://www.brc.ac.uk/schemes/broad_bodied_chaser_survey/homepage.htm
I think the species is found in your part of the country, but it might be best to check as I don't have anything here with a distribution map.
Another thought might be to see if you have a local or county Moth Group - I'm sure someone there will be running moth traps to survey the local species/migrants during the summer months, and they'd welcome your help with capture and identification.
Good luck!
