| | | BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour & Welfare. What next?! Hi there, I've recently completed a 3 year degree in Animal Behaviour & Welfare, so now need to enter the real world and get a job!
I don't mind what i get at first - i just want some hands-on experience and dont want to move house just yet. I live in Cheshire, but would accept anything in surrounding areas (merseyside, lancs, etc). I just dont know what to do! There's nothing around here!
I have a particular interest in conservation and wild mammals.
Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks in advance!

I graduated from the same degree 4 years ago.. and can sympathise with you.
Unless you have a clear idea of what job you want to aim for, its very difficult to use the degree to your advantage.. (mainly as I found, because the degree title doesnt do it justice) People in the 'real world' dont realise how in depth the degree is and it needs to be made very clear in any applications how technical the degree is.
It depends really whether you are after a job that pays well or one that is 100% dealing with animals hands on. (You will not find a job that is both)
I did a few jobs after the degree that were awful pay, but very enjoyable with mainly hands-on work and then when it came to needing a better paid job, i used that experience gained in poorly paid roles to obtain a well paid job in the end (although it is not 100% based on animal welfare)
Whats your working background? Because that will potentially direct you to the right role for you.
Hope that is of some help...
Dont worry, there are jobs out there - its just finding them and making sure that a potential employer knows exactly what you have covered in the BSc. Some of my past employers were so shocked at the level of knowledge I had gained from the BSc.
