| | Please can I have an ID for this.. I found this today whilst walking through the woodland on the South Downs just outside Eastbourne. I'm no expert, in fact I know pretty much nothing but would like to know what this is. Thanks

It is unusual to find violets in full flower this early, but as you will find if you read a few threads on the Wild-flower pages, many plants are flowering particularly early this year.

Dorts. | I live on the coast a few miles from Eastboune. I have seen V odorata in flower every month from October-April for the last 2/3 years in sheltered spots on the downs within a mile of the sea. Only a few flowers at a time but I can always find one or two. |
