It's the winter-flowering Viburnum, Viburnum × bodnantense . Appeared as a natural hybrid in the Bodnant gardens here in Conwy many years ago now; has a lovely scent.
The plant now generally on offer is one called Viburnum × bodnantense 'Dawn'.

Yes definitely worth a sniff- exquisite fragrance.

Viburnum they flower before the leaves appear and what a scent. I have a small leafed laurel (evergreen) white flowers, black berries, you can smell its scent for 10mtrs. or more if the breeze carries it

' Dawn ' also has a rather "stiff" habit / form .


This plant also has a distinctive smell when pruning it. ( After all the flowering has past, of course ! )
