| | | Hello...from Tosca Hello....today walking through the park I came across this lovely shrub, which incredibly is already in flower....perhaps because of the mild winter so far!!!
Could anyone I.D this flowers for me please!!!
at first it looked like some kind of Paeonias...but not sure!!!!

| | | Re: Hello...from Tosca Tosca, at first I thought it was a Camellia, but I notice long thorns, so it may be a species/variety of Chaenomeles. But there is also another red-flowered, thorny, evergreen shrub which is very similar, but at the moment I can't recall the name.

thank you for your help !!!!!!! | No it's not native. There's a clue in the name Japanese Quince where it originates from!
Given that it's growing through a Berberis I haven't seen naturalised I'm assuming this photo was taken in a park or garden. |
