Coltsfoot in flower.

I was surprised to see 2 Coltsfoot in flower today, my earliest ever in 29 years of searching for them. The earliest I've seen them previously was 7th Jan 1989. Last year was 11th Feb.
Although it has been extremely mild in the midlands, today's flowers were standing in a slightly flooded area so this may have forced them to flower early.

That certainly beats any of my early records for Coltsfoot Geoff. Remarkably early!

After the recent cold spell the main flowering of the Coltsfoot has just started, 2 in flower at RSPB Middleton Lakes, Staffs. on the 14/2.
