| | | ID : Vegetative ID request. Hello,
During a walk on the Grand Western Canal in Mid Devon this afternoon I came across an unusual plant on the towpath. I am sure I might have seen this in flower earlier this year but I am stumped in trying to recollect what it was/could be. Can anyone help me out with this one please?
Regards,
Andrew. |

| | | Re: ID : Vegetative ID request. Andrew, it's Small Scabious - Knautia arvensis. Looks like someone or something has picked the flowers off.

Thanks ever so much for that. It is good to know this species is on my local patch. I shall look out for the flower next year. The flower heads were in fact mostly still intact but had gone to seed.

Did you mean to say Field Scabious? That is the English name for Knautia arvensis.
