Was it growing near water?
If it was it could be Water Chickweed with those lilac anthers and wavy-edged leaves, and often flowers through till November.

If not near water we would have to go for Lesser Stitchwort, though it is a bit late for that species.

Chickweeds have 5 styles, Stitchworts have 3. Unfortunately I can't clearly see them.

Yes you were right it was growing on the banks of the river Clwyd N.Wales

[Hedera]

Water chickweed for me too - the length of the petals against the sepals, and sessile upper leaves.
